Reflection on the College Admisions Journey: The Good, The Bad, and everything in Between
I started my college process the summer between my Sophomore and Junior year of highschool and like many other students, I was anxious. The unknowns surrounding SAT, grades, GPA, extracurriculars seemed daunting.
Before I share with you my reflection on my College admission process I emplore students in this process to first take care of yourself. It is impossible to perform at your best when you are not physically and mentally present. I managed stress by playing tennis almost everyday with friends, eating good food, and prioritizing my sleep. It is paramount that you do not sacrifice your well being because your life is too short to be miserable in high school and as cliche as it may seem your journey is just as important as the outcome. So be authentic to yourself about your goals and aspirations!
A successful trait between myself and my peers in highschool was compartmentalizing our time. While social media is highly tempting it wastes hours of your time. Cut it out as much as possible, trust me! If you really want to attend a highly competitive name brand school you can’t waste your time. It is totally okay to find a balance between work and play during this process, it’s healthy, but try to treat this process like a job and the consistent work you put in will reap you a generous bonus.
This process is long, it is hard, and at times it may not feel worth it but I guarantee you when you open your acceptance letter to your dream school you will not regret anything. Work with me and found out high I got into the Ivy League and numerous other institutions.
